BEST PRECTICES
- Quite in conformity with the vision, mission and objective of the college, the college adheres to the job-oriented and all- round development of tribal students. The college is situated about 4 Kms. from Dashera Tekri, the bus depot in Khergam town. Consequently, it caused inordinate inconvenience to the students in the past and adversely affected the number of students in the college. So, the college took initiative and made rigorous efforts to arrange for the bus facility between Dashera Tekri and the college, strictly in accordance with the schedule of the college from the academic year 2018-19. This practice has made it possible for the students to commute regularly from remote tribal villages of Khergam and the neighboring talukas to the college. Apart from encouraging the students to avail themselves of the higher education, this practice also reduce the drop out ratio. The college has also expressed its gratitude to the ST Corporation for responding to its genuine request as a token of courtesy and also to strengthen amicable relations. Initially ST Corporation provided us with a single bus. However, a little later, considering our need and request one more bus was arranged for. The college is committed to the regular, timely and smooth conduct of this facility. In case of irregularity of the bus service, telephonic and written complaints are lodged with the GSRTC (Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation) to ensure both punctuality and regularity of the bus service. Besides, the students’ grievance in case of irregularity is also expressed in terms of their threat to go in for movement in a democratic way as evidenced from press notes, released from time to time. In addition to this practice, the bus pass is also issued to students every year. Significantly, online pass system with unique Id is in practice from the academic year 2016-17.
- Free medical checkup twice each year is also one of the best practices of the college. General body checkup through a local MBBS doctor is done in the beginning of the academic year. Each student is compulsorily made to fill up the form. These forms are then submitted to the university. The second round of the medical checkup ensures diagnoses fatal diseases like sickle cell, anemia and thalassemia wherein medical team from various districts visit each year. They collect blood sample of each student, prepare Positive/Negative report accordingly. In case, someone is detected having positive report, his/her illness is kept as secret and he/she is immediately referred to the District Medical Department for treatment. And this is how the institution significantly contributes to combat this hereditary disease of this area. Besides, the institution organizes guidance lectures in this context for the students to spread awareness in them. Lectures and activities on Aids Awareness and De-addiction are organized.
- The college has organized seven-day Special N. S. S. Annual Camp in the academic year 2018-19 at Miyazari. It has compulsorily asked all the N. S. S. volunteers attending to conduct an election card, land, productivity of the land, animal rearing, education and socio-economic condition of the villagers where the camp is held. As most of the volunteers belong to the villages, this kinds of survey exposes them directly to village culture. It provides them an opportunity to interact with the villagers, acquaints themselves with the socio-economic conditions of the villagers at the same time to compare analytically the issues of the survey with those of their respective villages. They enable the villagers to understand and redefine their socio-economic condition in a broader perspective while answering the questionnaires. The survey conducted by the volunteers is analyzed at the college level and also communicated to the villagers orally while they attend the cultural evening, celebrated generally the day before the valediction and also on the valedictory function in terms of a message.
- The students of this college have achievements in various events in the field of sports during the academic year 2018-19. They have received awards in the competitions organized by the Sports Authority of Gujarat every year and in tournaments by external agencies. Pawar Hareshbhai Dhirubhai won first place and got Rs.5000 in the Navsari District Athletics Competition at Khelmahakumbh. He has also got Rs.3000 as runner up in half marathon, at Navasari organized by Ahmedabad volleyball federation and And achieved third place at JCL Chikhali in the half marathon race and earned Rs 2000 cash.
